Is wifi in bedroom dangerous?

Comparison of electromagnetic emissions:

Source Position Average Maximal
WiFi Access point 31 cm from head 0.1 mW/kg 4 mW/kg
Apple iPhone 3G 3 cm from head 13.9 mW/kg 1300 mW/kg
Allowed limit 250 mW/kg 2000 mW/kg
Human in your bed 1000 mW/kg 2000 mW/kg

That means that WiFi typically emits less than 1% of an iPhone.
See pubmed for the source. The emission from a human body is calculated from Planck's law.

Global warming

Why people like to believe in global warming caused by emissions of carbondioxid?
Because people don't like, when they can't control things or at least explain them.

Why people like to listen to stories about global warming?
Because kids enjoy morbid fairy tails. And global warming is a blockbuster fairy tail for adults.

Does global warming really exist?
Since Vaclav Klaus, a man who hates ecologists, accepts the existence of global warming, global warming is a reality.

Is global warming caused by people?
Global warming is nothing new. It happens all the time. The last big warming happened during the transition from ice age to what we have now. These changes of temperature are natural, periodic, bigger and faster, than what we experience nowadays. See plot of temperature in the past & presence.

How to install Windows in place of Os X

Insert Mac OS X Install Disc (this part should work with OS X 10.4 Tiger or OS X 10.5 Leopard discs).
Reboot. Hold down C key during reboot Do not start the install.
From the Utilities menu, select Disk Utility. Select your hard drive from the list and then click the Partition tab / button. Click the Options button and select “Master Boot Record” as the partition scheme.
Click OK.
From the Volume Scheme drop down list, select 1 Partition. Select MS-DOS (FAT) for the format (not that this matters since you will reformat it using NTFS during the Vista install).
Click Apply.
Reboot. Hold down the Alt/Option key turning reboot.
When the graphical boot menu appears, hit the eject button. Take out the OS X Install Disc and put in your Vista with SP1 install disc.
Proceed through the Vista install.
When you come to screen titled “Where do you want to install Windows,” select Disk 0.
There will be a message saying that you cannot install to that disk because it is not formatted using NTFS.
Click the Drive Options link. Click the Format link. Click OK in the confirmation dialog.
Now select Disk 0 and click Next.
The Vista installation should proceed as normal.
Once Windows is installed and loaded, insert an OS X 10.5 Leopard disc and install the Windows drivers from Apple.

OSX Finder: Sort Folder Before File

Most of switchers getting used with how windows and linux sorting folder and files. Under Windows Explorer or Gnome Nautilus or KDE Konqurer, folder have a priority and displayed first before files if your order by type (or kind under Mac OS X).

Mac OS X is more logic than other OS; under Finder, filetype .dmg (or any filetype starting before alphabet F) will display first before folder since folder filetype is folder (and starting with alphabet F). LOGIC, BUT MAKE ME SICK!!!
Instructions how to fix it:
1- open terminal
2- paste this into it:

sudo vi /System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/InfoPlist.strings

3- type in your password
4- type 'a' (this will allow you to edit the file)
5- edit so line 7 looks like this:
"Folder" = " Folder";
6- Press escape
7- type ':w' to write
8-type ':q' to quit

Einstein

After Einstein and Mileva married, they had two sons: Hans Albert and Eduard. Einstein’s academic successes and world travel, however, came at a price – he became estranged from his wife. For a while, the couple tried to work out their problems – Einstein even proposed a strange "contract" for living together with Mileva:

The relationship progressed. Einstein became estranged from his wife. The biography reprints a chilling letter from Einstein to his wife, a proposed "contract" in which they could continue to live together under certain conditions. Indeed that was the heading: "Conditions."

    A. You will make sure
    1. that my clothes and laundry are kept in good order;
    2. that I will receive my three meals regularly in my room;
    3. that my bedroom and study are kept neat, and especially that my desk is left for my use only.
    B. You will renounce all personal relations with me insofar as they are not completely necessary for social reasons…

There’s more, including "you will stop talking to me if I request it." She accepted the conditions. He later wrote to her again to make sure she grasped that this was going to be all-business in the future, and that the "personal aspects must be reduced to a tiny remnant." And he vowed, "In return, I assure you of proper comportment on my part, such as I would exercise to any woman as a stranger."

In another letter:
"When I'm at home, don't look at me or talk to me, and don't complain if I mess around with other women."

What do I like on Mac

What do I like on Mac:
1) You can easily open a cd/dvd image (iso) out of box
2) Small applications like Calendar and Address Book are really easy to use and still extremely useful
3) No shining blue LEDs
4) Unified keyboard shortcut for application settings (Command+,)
5) Nice terminal
6) Text auto-correction in all applications
7) Uniform icon decorations for counting (like number of unread emails in Mail icon)
8) Recovery disk on the hard disk. So you don't have to boot from a slow CD.
9) Touchpad gestures
10) Simple management of wireless networks
11) Unified management of passwords
12) Virtual screens
13) Full screen mode of some applications where the application doesn't cover all the applications but rather creates a new desktop. Hence switching between the application and the rest of the system is fluent and fast.
14) The accents marks are displayed immediately, not like in Windows, where you don't know whether you have really pressed the accent key or not until you press another key.
15) You can trash a file, which is still in use, without an error message.
16) Applications are just one file. And installation and uninstallation of such application is easy.
17) I fall in love with Alfred, a quick launch application that 'predicts what do I want to run much faster and accurately than the default quick launch in the top right corner.
18) Omnifocus is another great To-Do utility.
19) Global switching of keyboard layout. Not application based as in Windows.
20) The password inboxes are delightfully shaking if you input wrong password.

What I don't like on Mac:
1) No Paint Brush by default.
2) Some keyboard shortcuts are ridiculous. For example print screen used to be one keyboard stroke, but on mac it is Control+Command+Shift+4. Ridiculous.
3) Window controls on Mac are unpredictable, sometimes you can close application, sometimes not.
4) When I click on an already active application in the task bar, the application should minimise. Or do something. Not so on Mac.
5) Can't control everything with just a keyboard.
6) Windows decoration is grey as everything else. Thus it is hard to distinguish the borders between the windows.
7) Windows on Mac are strangely layered - sometimes freshly started application pops up, sometimes it is hidden behind others.
8) You can't uninstall Os X applications like Mail. So when the are broken you have to reinstall whole system.
9) Forget about Microsoft Office for Mac. They are crap. Word for Mac is not fully compatible with Word for Windows. Just try to work with equation editor on Mac and then open it on Windows. It's not going to work nicely. And Excel for Mac is a joke as well - you can't work with a big amount of data in Excel since it is sooooooooooo slow.
10) Task manager doesn't allow increase or decrease the priority of a process - you have to do that from the console. And when one process steals all the processor resources it's really a pain to use other applications. On Windows you can use other applications with a hungry application in the background without any issue.
11) Lack of compatibility - with each version of mac Os X you have to use updated applications. In comparison on Windows you can run 10 years old without any problem, you can quite likely run 20 years (except games) and even 30 years DOS applications work.
12) It's hard to switch between different spell checkers. If you write just in one language it's fine but if you are bilingual you have a problem.
13) Ping command doesn't work completely. Supposedly it should support a variable size of payload but this setting didn't work. In the end I had to use Windows' ping command.
14) There isn't any keyboard shortcut for displaying context menu. In windows there is a button dedicated for that. But Mac doesn't even have a shortcut for that.

Root in OSX

The root is not enabled by default. enable it from terminal but KNOW what you do with the root or you might end giving yourself trouble.

open terminal

sudo passwd root

You will be prompted for a new password to enable root access.

A harder way to enable root is to use the Netinfo Manager application (Applications/Utilities).

1) Open NetInfo Manager
2) Select "Users" from the second list.
3) Select a user you created andnd know the password for!
4) Double-click on the value across from "passwd" and copy it. It is the encoded form of the password for that user.
5) Select "root" from the list of users. Find the "passwd" value (default is "*") and paste over it.
6) Exit Netinfo Manager.
7) Open the Terminal and type "su root".
8) Enter the password for the user chosen above.

Have a different passw for root than the user - and make it something that you don't forget easily.
